BANDS + COLLABORATIONS

LAND OF COLOR (2018 - Current)

Two friends who grew up on opposite ends of the earth. In 2015, they met at a retreat in the mountains of Montana and have been close friends and writing songs together ever since. Their different cultural and musical backgrounds have resulted in a unique sound that is a blend of African rhythms, singable melodies and tight harmonies.

REND COLLECTIVE (2020 - 2022)

Rend Collective is an eclectic collective of multi-instrumentalists from the North of Ireland. An inherent desire for something spiritually substantive in our increasingly artificial world is exactly what brought the movement of friends together. United by a common purpose, these twenty-somethings began exploring the intersection between God, life and community.

“Suddenly” serves as a teaser for what Tenth Avenue North has in store. The band has hinted at upcoming plans on social media, including “something special” scheduled for April 6, 2024, and the anticipation of a fall 2024 tour. Despite the changes, the band’s mission remains steadfast: “lifting shame, one song at a time.”

Love + Loss

Thomas Ewing (2023)
SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION

“Love + Loss” dedicated to my close friend who tragically passed away this time last year due to suicide. His death affected me and so many others in such massive ways. Each song is written from a different perspective. His, mine & ours. Artwork is painted by Brenton Brown. Mixed by Wil Pearce.

Whosoever

Rend Collective (2022)
MEMBER / GUITAR / MANDOLIN / HARMONICA / ARTWORK

I’ve had the privilege of joining the Rend gang over these last 2 years playing guitar, mandolin, drums, and whatever else. Also designing thier album covers, merch & motion videos for the live shows. We are excited to share this new project. The album features 10 tracks including the recently released radio single “Plans,” and the vibrant anthemic song, “Let It Roll.” The record is about God’s vast, generous embrace – wide enough, for the prodigal sons, cynical older brother and any other label we might apply to ourselves or others.

Show Me What It Means

Land of Color (2022)
MEMBER / SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION / ARTWORK

Land of Color announces the release of their newest full length album, "Show Me What It Means.” Written by Thomas Ewing & Gary Rea along with a few by Mike Donehey and Jeff Owen. Produced by Geoff Duncan, Jeff Owen and Land of Color.

A Father & Two Sons

Mike Donehey (2021)
SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION / ARTWORK

Over quarantine last year, Mike and I started writing songs together. I remember him playing this little song idea and immediately I began hearing some harmonies. It felt straight out of the 60’s. So, we decided to chase it down and get creative without any boundaries. We are both so proud of these songs and had a blast making them.

Unplugged For The People

Tenth Avenue North (2021)
GUITAR / PRODUCTION

Tenth’s final album as a band! This album was set out to be a re-imagining of their greatest hits over the past 15 years and it was super fun to come up with some different arrangements and sounds for some of these songs. Along with joining them for a live performance at Blackbird Studio, I arranged and produced “Healing Begins”, “Hold My Heart” & “Control”.

Goodness & Sunshine

Crewboy (2021)
SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION / ARTWORK

My good friend Scott just released a song into the world that I had the joy of helping him create and I can relate to these words quite a bit as it hits on anxiety and depression. But to also remember that there is hope. He wanted to use one of my drawings for his cover. This piece is a 12” Remo drum head that hangs out in the studio. Cheers to you Scotty fir bringin’ all sorts of people and their stories together with some goodness and sunshine:)

Rest

Land of Color (2020)
MEMBER / SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION / ARTWORK

Society and culture encourages us to be more, to strive and achieve more. The truth, however, is that our worth is not dependent on our performance or our success. This song help remind us personally to rest instead of strive and to remember that we already belong and are already loved. This freedom can then allow us to actually love the people in front of us instead of looking be loved ourselves.

Self Titled EP

Land of Color (2018)
MEMBER / SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION / ARTWORK

Gary and I signed a recording contract with Remade Records (an imprint of Sony/Provident) in the spring of 2018. We changed our name to Land of Color and recorded this project.

The Meaning

Phillip LaRue (2018)
SONGWRITER / GUITAR

This was a special and unique project. Before I met Phil, my wife and I were living with Phillip’s sister and brother-in-law and he was over one night for a party. My friend pointed at me and said to him, “Hey, have you heard this guy play guitar?” We went downstairs and I played him a song I’d been working on. 2 weeks later that became the title track for his solo album “The Meaning”. We wrote all 10 songs in 4 days.

Many Lands

HOLY MNTN (2017)
MEMBER / SONGWRITER / PRODUCTION

Recorded in our basements, this is Gary and I’s first project together. With zero intention to start a band, we passed it along to some friends, one of which was Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North). He took it on the bus with him and after hearing the title track “Many Lands” he and asked if we’d be interested in signing a record deal:) After that we changed our name to Land of Color and hit the ground running.
